Staff Summary: Background: As part of the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) Municipal Grant Program, the City of Miami Gardens successfully submitted a proposal for a city-wide Bicycle-Pedestrian ITEM K-6) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. City of Miami Gardens Bicycle-Pedestrian Mobility Plan – Work Order February 8, 2012 Mobility Plan. At the January 11, 2012 meeting, City Council approved the interlocal agreement with the MPO and authorized the acceptance of the grant funds, and authorized the City Manager to engage an eligible Architectural/Engineering firm. The project cost is $90,000 which includes $72,000 funded by the MPO, plus an $18,000 match from the City’s Capital Improvement Fund. Current Situation: One of the City’s prequalified transportation consulting firms, Kimley-Horn and Associates, is proposed to conduct this transportation study, develop the plan and provide recommendations for this project. This project will include up to 3 meetings with a steering committee comprised of city departments as well as stakeholders and residents from the City. The Bicycle/Pedestrian Mobility Plan will benefit the City in developing its vision for enhancing the “Gardens” concept and non-automobile transportation alternatives consistent with the Traffic Circulation Element of the Comprehensive Development Master Plan. City Council approval of a purchase order with Kimley-Horn and Associates is required. The attached Work Order provided by the firm incorporates the scope of work and cost.
