The contract allows for a two (2) year initial term, allowing the City the option to renew for an additional two (2) years, expiring July 20, 2012. The City of Miami Gardens currently utilizes the City of Miami’s contract with Maroone Ford of Miami. Current Situation The Cit’s existing purchase order with Maroone Ford of Miami is under $50,000, thus under the City Manager’s authority. This calendar year, however, the majority of the City’s Fleet will have exceeded either the time or mileage portion of the Extended Service Contracts obtained at time of vehicle purchase. Consequently, repair costs to these vehicles will increase exponentially, even under the current contract. The City of Miami Gardens requires the service of a factory authorized and trained Ford Dealership to perform mechanical repairs on the Ford Motor Company vehicles in the City’s Fleet. While other Ford dealerships provide repair services, City Staff has determined that Maroone Ford of Miami is best suited to continue to provide services to the City’s Fleet because of their proximity, their quality of repair work, and the intangible services offered (free pick‐up and delivery of vehicles). The current contract with Maroone Ford of Miami provides for a discounted labor rate of $68 per flat rate hour, and a parts markup of 15% over the published dealer net price. The following are examples of repairs performed by Maroone Ford of Miami on City of Miami Gardens vehicles; air bag systems, antilock brakes, powertrain controls, internal powertrain components, climate control, and electrical systems. The City is very satisfied with the services being provided by Maroone Ford of Miami. Therefore, City staff seeks Council approval to amend the existing purchase order with Maroone Ford, to increase it to an amount not to exceed $175,000. It is understood that the existing contract on which the City is piggy‐backing expires July 20, 2012. Prior to that date, the City will have the option to piggy‐back on a similar contract or issue its own solicitation for OEM Parts and Repair services. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the attached resolution. Attachment:
