The mission of the Commission for Women includes advising the Cit y Council on issues relating to the fair and equal treatment of women, policies and practice s that discriminate against women, and the working and living conditions of women among other matters. 1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 On June 8, 2012, the Commission fo r Women installed Rose Gar den in honor of Mayor Shirley S. Gibson at the archdiocese pr operty owned by the Cit y located at NW 12th Avenue and 183rd Street. Mayor Gibson and Councilwoman Felicia Robinson are recommendi ng that the City Council authorize the members of the Commission for Wo men to collect donations to assist with the maintenance of the Rose Garden and request t hat the City Manager cr eate a budget line item for the donations collected. This will ensu re that those donated funds are earmarked for maintenance of the Rose Garden. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the attached resolution. Attachment:
