1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 Background The Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) is a competitive program which provides grant opportunities to local governmental entities for acquisition and development of land for public outdoor recreation use or to construct recreational trails. The 2012 ‐2013 FRDAP application submission period begins September 14, 2012. Current Situation The City’s master plan for Rolling Oaks Park is to create a state ‐of the ‐art walking trail and park facility . The proposed improvements include construction of picnic and rain shelters, picnic tables, exercise stations, and a biking/hiking path. The submission of the FRDAP grant application will help support the City’s completion of the planned capital improvements at Rolling Oaks Park. Said improvements have been deferred for a number of years due to a lack of funding. Through the City’s newly created Grants Administration office, the City has prepared a grant application in the amount of two hundred thousands dollars ($200,000) to undertake the developments outlined in the Parks Master Plan for Rolling Oaks Park. The FRDAP grant requires a matching amount equal to the funding awarded. The City’s match will be provided by funds allocated by the Miami ‐Dade County General Obligation Bonds and Florida Department Of Transportation Enhancement Grant. An authorizing resolution is required to accompany FRDAP grant applications. Applications are due September 28, 2012. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the attached resolution.
