Summary: On November 10, 2009, the City Council authorized the formation of a non-profit entity to seek grant opportunities, and to establish partnership s for the implementatio n of educational and cultural programs within the Cit y of Miami Gardens. On Februar y 9, 2010, the Friends of Miami Gardens, Inc. was incorporated for this purpose. Upon its incor poration, a Board of Directors was formed. Pursuant to the Arti cles of Incorporation, the Mayo r and City Council are to jointly appoint individuals to the initia l Board of Directors. Council woman Lillie Q.
