Staff Summary: Currently automatic and semi ‐automatic firearms may be lawfully purchased in the State of Florida. However, the possession of automatic and semi ‐automatic weapons is a growing problem to law. Therefore Vice Mayor Lisa Davis and Councilman Rodney Harris recommend that the City Council adopt a Resolution to support a prohibition on the sale and possession of automatic and semi ‐automatic weapons.
