Crew, City Manger Department:Police Department Short  Title:  A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTE ST RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI AS A SUB-GRANTING AGENCY FOR THE FY2011 UASI GRANT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY NECE SSARY ADDENDUMS TO EXTEND GRANT TERMS; PROVIDING FOR INST RUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  Staff  Summary: The  City  of  Miami  Gardens  has  been  identified  by  the  Federal  Department  of  Homeland  Security  as  a  city  that  is  eligible  to  receive  funding  from  the  Urban  Area  Security  Initiative  (UASI) Grant  Program  as  a  member  of  the  Miami  / Fort  Lauderdale  UASI.  The  City  was  awarded  $219,174.11  under  the  2011  UASI  Grant  for  the  purchas e  of  an  Access  Control  System  to  be  installed  in  the  new  City  Hall  and  Police  Department  complex. The  system  is  needed  to  protect  and  control  access  to  this  critical  infrastructure  location.  ITEM K-4) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION UASI MOU   1515  NW  167  Street, Building  5  Suite  200    Miami  Gardens, Florida  33169   The  City  of  Miami  now  serves  as  the  lead  agency  for  Miami  / Fort  Lauderdale  UASI  (in  place  of  the  City  of  Miramar) upon  decree  of  the  Federal  Government  that  the  two  UASIs  would  be  combined.  As  such, the  City  of  Miami  Gardens  is  a  sub ‐granting  agency  of  the  City  of  Miami  in  the  Miami  / Fort  Lauderdale  UASI.  As  the  sub ‐granting  agency  the  City  Council  must  also  approve  and  execute  the  attached  memorandum  of  agreement  for  participating  agencies  in  order  to  utilize  the  grant  funding  listed  above.      Proposed  Action: It  is  recommended  that  the  City  Council  approve  the  attached  resolution, authorizing  the  City  Manager  to  execute  the  FY2011  UASI  Grant  Memorandum  of  Agreement  and  any  other  addendums  as  it  relates  to  the  extension  of  this  grant  term  for  participating  Miami  / Fort  Lauderdale  UASI  Agencies.   Attachment: Attachment  A  –  FY2011  Miami  UASI  Memorandum  of  Agreement
