Staff  Summary: The  Miami  Alliance  of  Black  School  Educators  (Miami ‐ABSE) is  hosting  the  First  Mentoring  Collaboration  Conference  at  Miami  Carol  City  Senior  High  School, May  11  through  May  18, 2013.    The  purpose  of  the  Conference  is  to  establish, maintain, and  build  beneficial  community  partnerships  to  develop  awareness  and  action  concerning  the  state  of  affairs  re lating  to  low  student  achievement  of  children  of  color  with  concentration  on  Black  males  and  youth  crime.  Miami ‐ASBE  intends  to  utilize  communal  relationships  to  strengthen  families, build  student  self ‐confidence, self ‐reliance, and  mental  health.  ITEM K-6) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION Supporting MMiami-ABSE   1515  NW  167  Street, Building  5  Suite  200    Miami  Gardens, Florida  33169    At  the  conclusion  of  the  Conference  the  participating  organizations  will  be  invited  to  reconvene  as  a  Task  Force  to  devise  a  Sustainability  Plan  for  mentoring  collaboration  for  the  next  five  years.  Miami ‐ASBE  will  publish  reports  on  the  activities  of  the  Task  Force.  Councilman  Ighodaro  solicits  the  Council  and  the  City  of  Miami  Gardens  expression  of  support  for  this  innovative  iniative.  Proposed  Action: That  the  City  Council  approves  this  resolution  in  support  of  Miami ‐ABSE  initiative.  Attachment:
