HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-158-3263 - Hungry Black Man Culinary ConferenceRESOLUTION NO. 2017-158-3263 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) FROM THE MAYOR'S SPECIAL EVENT ACCOUNT, TO SUPPORT THE HUNGRY BLACK MAN CULINARY CONFERENCE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Mayor Oliver Gilbert, is requesting Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) from his special event account to support The Hungry Black Man Culinary Conference, and WHEREAS, the purpose of this event is to facilitate the development of a diversified local food and drink economy v\/ithin the City of Miami Gardens where businesses can locate, innovate, grow and prosper while providing residents interested in entering the food and drink entrepreneurial space with an entry point, and WHEREAS the conference will take place December 7-11, 2017, gathering restaurant owners, chefs, bakers, mixologist, and anyone in the food and drink industry to expose the public to amazing restaurant offers and specials within the City of Miami Gardens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS; Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the allocation of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) from the Mayor's Special Event Account, to support The Hungry Black Man Culinary Conference. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage. Staff Summary: Mayor Oliver Gilbert requests to spend $5,000.00 from his Special Events account to support The Hungry Black Man Culinary Week and Conference. The conference will take place December 7th – 11th, gathering restaurant owners, chefs, bakers, mixologist, and anyone in the food and drink industry to expose the public to amazing restaurant offers and specials within the City of Miami Gardens.
