HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-182-3287 - Scott Lake Reading in the Garden EventRESOLUTION NO. 2017-182-3287 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ALLOCATE FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,200 TO SUPPORT SCOTT LAKE ELEMENTARY'S SIX ANNUAL "READING IN THE GARDEN" EVENT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Councilman Rodney Harris is hosting the Scott Lake Elementary School's Six Annual "Reading in the Garden" event, Friday, December 15, 2017, at Scott Lake Elementary School, and WHEREAS, parents, students and family members are invited to come to the event dressed in their holiday pajamas and enjoy holiday literature read by special guests and experience a live performance by the school's chorus and orchestra, and WHEREAS, families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a fun and relaxing evening in a safe environment, and WHEREAS, the lighting for this event will be funded through a budgeted amount not to exceed $1,200 in Fiscal Year 2018 Special Events Account designated for each Councilperson under the Public Affairs Budget, and WHEREAS, in support of Scott Lake Elementary's Six Annual "Reading in the Garden", Councilman Harris is requesting a total of $1,200 from the Special Events Account, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby directs the City Manager to allocate funds in the amount of $1,200 from the Special Events Accounts. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage. The lighting for this event will be funded through a budgeted amount not to exceed $1,200 in FY 2018 Special Events account designated for each Councilperson under the Public Affairs Budget. Fiscal Impact After the above allocation, Councilman Harris have an available balance of $5,800.00 for the remaining of the fiscal year. Proposed Action: Recommend Council approval of the resolution in support of Scott Lake Elementary’s six annual Reading in the Garden event. Attachment:
