WHEREAS, In June of 2017, Mazex Holding, LLC (Mazex) presented a conceptual plan to the City of Miami Gardens to develop a hotel resort on City-owned property located at Northwest 189th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue, and WHEREAS, City Staff has worked closely with the design team to develop a preliminary architectural design and floor plan layout, and WHEREAS, Staff is ready to move forward with negotiations with Mazex, who will construct and develop the project, and WHERERAS, it is being recommended that the City Council authorize the Mayor, City Manager and the City Attorney to negotiate with Mazex Holding, LLC that will be brought back to the City Council for approval, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the Mayor, City Manager and the City Attorney to negotiate with Mazex Holding, LLC for the development of a hotel resort on City-owned property located at Northwest 189th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue. Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage. Staff Summary: In June of 2017, Mazex Holding, LLC presented a conceptual plan to the City to develop a hotel resort on City-owned property located at NW 189th Street and NW 27th Avenue. Since that time, staff has worked closely with the design team to develop a preliminary architectural design and floor plan layout. Staff is ready to move forward with negotiations with Mazex Holding, LLC who will construct and develop the project, and requests authorization for the Mayor, City Manager and City Attorney to negotiate with Mazex Holding, LLC for this purpose. There is no fiscal impact at this time; if an agreement is successfully negotiated, it will be brought back to the City Council for approval in accordance with the City of Miami Gardens Charter. Located on N.W. 27th Ave between N.W. 189 st. and N.W. 191 st., this 600,000 + s.f. facility is envisioned as being a destination within itself, with the goal to be community friendly, not just a customary hotel for guests in general. While most hotels in the region cater to the “drive by” guests customarily staying for one or two nights only , Mazex Hotel and Resort will afford enough entertaining and services to provide for guests a multiple night stay in complete comfort, while will also affording a delightful launching point to the numerous local malls, sporting events, or other multitude of activities so prevalent in the vicinity. Several of the many elements of significance include: Over 400 oversized rooms plus (2) 1200 s.f. Suites per floor and (2) 3,400 s.f. executive suites per floor A Four Star Full Menu Restaurant open to the public with access to the outdoor pool deck. A stage and dance floor in the restaurant for nightly entertaining. A Full Salon, Massage and Steam Facility A complete business center with full WiFi. Workout facility including dance studio and complete men’s and women’s locker rooms. Comprehensive Pool Deck including swim up bar, jacuzzi, waterfall, kids pool, entertaining stage, and tiki bar.
