HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-074-3387 - Amending resolution 2018-43-3356 to include the ShowmobileRESOLUTION NO. 2018-74-3387 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION 2018- 43-3356 TO INCLUDE A RENTAL FEE WAIVER FOR THE USE OF THE SHOWMOBILE FOR THE 2018 MIND YOUR HEALTH 5K WALK/RUN; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on February 28, 2018 the City Council approved Resolution 2018- 43-3356, sponsored by Councilwoman Felicia Robinson, waiving the park rental fees for Rolling Oaks Park for the 2018 Mind Your Health 5k Walk/Run event in recognition of Mental Health in African American Community taking place on Saturday, April 28, 2018, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Robinson is requesting the Resolution be amended to include a rental fee waiver for the use of the Miami Gardens Show Mobile for this event, and WHEREAS, this event will bring awareness to those who suffers from or knows someone who suffers from mental illness and is open and free to the public, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby amends Resolution 2018-43-3356 to include a rental fee waiver for the use of the Showmobile for the 2018 Mind Your Health 5k Walk/Run event taking place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Resolution No. 2018-74-3387 2 Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage. Mental Health Awareness ITEM K-2: HEALTH 5K WALK/ RUN EVENT - SHOWMOBILE FEE WAIVER 18605 NW 27 Avenue Miami Gardens, Florida 33056 Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood, adolescence and throughout adulthood, This event will bring awareness to those who suffers from or knows someone who suffers from Mental illness and is open and free to the public. Councilwoman Robinson has requested to sponsor Rolling Oaks Park for the 2018’ Mind your health 5k Walk/Run.. Fiscal Impact The cost for the rental of the show mobile is approximately $1,200 and staff time for the transportation, set-up, and break down. Proposed Action: Recommend Council approval of the resolution in support of Councilwoman Felicia Robinson bringing community awareness to Mental Health. Attachment:
