A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING UP TO ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) FROM COUNCILMAN
IGHODARO'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT FOR THE PURPOSE
OF CONDUCTING THE READ TO LEAD PROGRAM; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Read to Lead Program is an incentive based reading initiative
developed in 2001 by the Late Honorable Robert B. Ingram, Ph. D., member of the
Miami Dade County School Board, and
WHEREAS, the Read To Lead Program encourages fourth and fifth graders in
participating elementary schools located in the City of Miami Gardens to read at least
ten books in the course of a sixty day educational period, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro is requesting that a portion of the program is
funded through a budgeted amount not to exceed the sum of One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00) from his Special Events Account,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro's Special Events Account in
the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), for the purpose of conducting the
Read to Lead Program.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 9, 2019.
