A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 2018-167-3581 AND CONFIRMING
COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEON'S APPOINTMENT OF
LINDA JULIEN TO THE CHARTER REVISION
COMMISSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6.2 OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDEN'S CHARTER; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6.2 of the City of Miami Gardens'
Charter, at its first regular meeting in December 2008 and thereafter every fifth year, the
City Council is required to appoint and fund a Charter Revision Commission, and
WHEREAS, the Charter Revision Commission is to consist eight members with
the Mayor and each Councilmember making one appointment and the Mayor appointing
a Councilmember sitting in his or her second term as a nonvoting member of the
Commission, and if there are none, the Mayor is to appoint a sitting Vice Mayor or
Council member, and
WHEREAS, On October 24, 2018 the City Council approved Resolution No.
2018-167-3581 confirming the appointment of Sherwood Dubose to the Charter
Revision Commission, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon desires to rescind the appointment of
Sherwood Dubose and appoint Linda Julien to the Charter Revision Commission, and
WHEREAS, the City Council rescinds Resolution No. 2018-167-3581, and
WHEREAS, the City Council confirms Councilman Reggie Leon appointment of
Linda Julien to the Charter Revision Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENT: The City Council of the City
of Miami Gardens hereby confirms Councilman Reggie Leon's appointment of Linda
Julien to the Miami Gardens Charter Revision Commission.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 9, 2019.
