A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING UP TO SIXTEEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($16,000) FROM THE CITY SPECIAL
EVENTS BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF A GOLDEN PROM
CELEBRATION; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in 2012, Councilman Ighodaro created an elder council to harness
the wisdom and guidance of our seniors in promoting the health and general wellbeing
of the City's elderly Residents who have served as the foundation and backbone of this
City's development, and
WHEREAS, this year, the 3rd Annual Golden Night of Elegance: Senior Prom will
take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Trinity Church of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the City is committed to serving its elderly residents by providing
various opportunities for positive social and educational interaction, and
WHEREAS, in addition to this budgetary allocation, the City will attempt to garner
sponsorships, gifts, and donations to support the Senior Prom event moving forward,
and
WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro is requesting an allocation from the Special
Events budget account not to exceed the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars
($16,000.00) for the purpose of supporting the 3rd Annual Golden Night of Elegance:
Senior Prom,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section Z AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds up to Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($16,000.00) from the City
Special Events Budget, for the purpose of hosting the 3rd Annual Golden Night of
Elegance: Senior Prom.
Section 1 EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 9, 2019.
