A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
EXPENDITURE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000.00) FROM THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND ("LETF") TO BE UTILIZED FOR
SPONSORSHIP TO THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON
PREVENTING CRIME; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-845, of the City's Code of Ordinance,
and the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act, if the Police Department acquires at least
$15,000.00 in the Law Enforcement Trust Fund ("LETF") within a fiscal year, the Police
Department must expend or donate no less than 25 percent of such proceeds for the
support or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention,
crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or school resource officer program(s), and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-845, of the City's Code of Ordinance,
and the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act, the City is authorized to expend funds from
the Law Enforcement Trust Fund ("LETF"), and
WHEREAS, the Miami Gardens Police Department is seeking authorization from
the City Council to expend the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) from the
LETF, and
WHEREAS, Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) will be utilized for the
sponsorship of fifteen (15) or more employees both sworn and non-sworn, and
members from the Miami Gardens Police Explorer Program to attend the National
Conference on Preventing Crime,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the expenditure in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars
($10,000.00) from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to be utilized for sponsorship to the
National Conference on Preventing Crime.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
