A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN IGHODARO'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN
THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00), TO
SUPPORT THE EDO ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA'S 24TH
ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY PICNIC AND CULTURAL
FESTIVAL; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Edo Association of Florida, Inc., (EAF) is registered in Florida
and recognized by the IRS, as a 501(c)(3) as a not-for-profit organization, and
WHEREAS, the mission of EAF is to promote EDO culture and social values,
provide opportunities for all, promote the good image of Nigeria and United States,
promote education, create cultural awareness, and social activities for the benefit of the
rich multi-cultural diversity of Florida, United States; and Edo State, Nigeria, and
WHEREAS, each year, the organization hosts an Independence Day Picnic and
Cultural Festival on the Fourth of July, and
WHEREAS, the event is free and open to all members of the community,
providing an opportunity to enjoy food, music, competitions, games, and much more,
and
WHEREAS, the 24th Annual Independence Day Picnic and Cultural Festival will
take place on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Amelia Earhart Park from `IZOOpm to 8:OOpm,
and
WHEREAS, Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro is requesting a sponsorship in the
amount of $500.00 from his Public Affairs Account to assist with offsetting the costs
associated with hosting the 24th Annual Independence Day Picnic and Cultural Festival,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Councilman Ighodaro's Public Affairs Account in the
amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), to support the EDO Association of Florida's
24th Annual Independence Day Picnic and Cultural Festival.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 26, 2019.
