A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CITY
SURCHARGE FOR RESIDENTIAL SINGLE-FAMILY ATTACHED
AND DETACHED UNITS BY REDUCING IT BY FIFTY PERCENT
(50%) TO SEVEN AND A HALF PERCENT (7.5%); PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens ("City") charges a surcharge of fifteen
percent (15%) of the total Building Permit fee, for each permit issued, to support the
provision of state-of-the-art technology to its Building Services Division customers, and
WHEREAS, reducing the City surcharge for single-family attached and detached
units reduces the burden of fees on working families and encourages home
improvement and the resulting beautification of the City, and
WHEREAS, a fifty percent (50%) reduction in the City surcharge to seven and
half percent (7.5%) is in the best interest of the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby amends the City surcharge for residential single-family attached and detached
units by reducing it by fifty percent (50%) to seven and a half percent (7.5%).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 12, 2019.
