HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-133-3262 Amending Impact Fees for Residential Single Family Development RESOLUTION NO. 2019-133-3262 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE IMPACT FEES FOR RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT BY REDUCING THE IMPACT FEES BY TEN PERCENT (10%) FOR RESIDENTIAL TWO-BEDROOM SINGLE-FAMILY ATTACHED AND DETACHED UNITS, BY TWENTY PERCENT (20%) FOR RESIDENTIAL ONE- BEDROOM SINGLE-FAMILY ATTACHED AND DETACHED UNITS AND BY FIVE PERCENT (5%) FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SOLAR PANELS, SOLAR WATER HEATERS AND ENERGY EFFICIENT IMPACT WINDOWS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, during Fiscal Year 2018, the City of Miami Gardens ("City") adopted an increase to impact fees to ensure adequate funding for services such as police, roads and parks and recreation services, and WHEREAS, reducing rates for smaller one and two bedroom single-family attached and detached units reduces inequity by not imposing the same fees as required for three-bedroom and larger units, and WHEREAS, reducing rates to encourage the use of solar power results in lower emissions with less effect on global warming, resilience to severe weather, stabilized energy bills and improved public health due to reduced air pollution, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby amends the impact fees for residential development by reducing the impact fees by reducing the impact fees by ten percent (10%) for residential two-bedroom single- family attached and detached units, by twenty percent (20%) for residential one- bedroom single-family attached and detached units and by five percent (5%) for the installation of solar panels, solar water heaters and energy efficient impact windows. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
