HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-170-3299 Increasing Compensation Special Masters Local Hearing Officers RESOLUTION NO. 2019-170-3299 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, INCREASING COMMPENSATION FOR SPECIAL MASTERS AND LOCAL HEARING OFFICERS FROM ONE-HUNDRED DOLLARS TO ($100.00) TO ONE- HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($150.00) PER HOUR, NOT TO EXCEED FIVE-HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) ON ANY GIVEN HEARING DATE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens ("City") established a Code Enforcement Special Master Program in the City, and WHEREAS, Special Masters hear appeals of all code enforcement citations and stormwater utility fees, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Florida Statutes Chapter 316.0083, a municipality electing to utilize a red light camera traffic safety program must designate a local hearing officer, and WHEREAS. Special Master and Local Hearing Officer compensation has not been increased since 2006, and WHEREAS, the City Attorney and City Clerk recommends that the City Council increase compensation for Special Masters and Local Hearing Officers, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2. APPOINTMENT: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby increases compensation for Special Masters and Local Hearing Officers from One-Hundred dollars to ($100.00) to One-Hundred and Fifty dollars ($150.00) per hour, not to exceed Five-Hundred dollars ($500.00) on any given hearing date. Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
