A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING COUNCILWOMAN
LILLIE Q. ODOM'S COMMUNITY DAY ANNUAL BOOK BAG
GIVEAWAY; AUTHORIZING A SPONSORSHIP OF THE EVENT
IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000.00)
FROM THE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS:
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the purpose of this event is to assist students in the City of Miami
Gardens with their back to school expenses and to encourage them to excel in their
scholastic undertakings, and
WHEREAS, the Book Bag Giveaway will take place on Saturday. August 3,
2019, at Buccaneer Park, 3100 NW 207th Street, Miami Gardens, Florida 33056 from
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom is requesting a sponsorship in the
amount of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00), to be allocated from Account Number
001-12-02-512-492-00 to purchase book bags, school supplies, and some light
refreshments for the City of Miami Gardens students,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby supports Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom's Community Day Annual Book Bag
Giveaway and authorizes a sponsorship of the event in the amount of Three Thousand
Dollars ($3,000.00) from the City Council Special Events Account.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 24, 2019.
