A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THE SUM OF TWO
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FROM COUNCILMAN
IGHODARO'S SPECIAL EVENT ACCOUNT FOR THE PURPOSE
OF HOSTING SENIOR MOVIE EXPERIENCE IN THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, throughout the year, Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro hosts a monthly
event called Senior Movie Experience, a free program for Miami Gardens' senior
residents age Fifty-Five and up, and
WHEREAS, this event provides an excellent opportunity for senior residents to
interact in a safe and friendly environment, and
WHEREAS, studies show that watching movies in groups can reduce isolation,
foster friendships, stimulate empathy, and provide mental stress relief, and
WHEREAS, this is especially relevant for the City's retirees and residents of long-
term care facilities, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro is requesting to utilize Two Thousand Dollars
($2,000.00) from his Public Affairs Special Events Account for the purpose of hosting
Senior Movie Experience, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro recommends that the City Council approves
this resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made
a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) from
Councilwoman Ighodaro's Public Affairs Special Events Account to for the purpose of
hosting Senior Movie Experience in the City of Miami Gardens.
Section 1 EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 9, 2019
