HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-219-3348 FMU Alumni Weekend Waiver Showmobile RESOLUTION NO. 2019-219-3348 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 25-27, 2019, AS FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI WEEKEND AND WAIVING FEE USAGE FOR THE USE OF THE SNOWMOBILE; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Florida Memorial University will be celebrating its Annual Alumni Weekend activities October 25 through 27, 2019, and WHEREAS, One of the planned activities for this weekend is the basketball program's preseason pep rally, better known as Midnight Madness, which is currently scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2019, and WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro is requesting to waive the fees associated with the use of the Miami Gardens Showmobile, and WHEREAS, Councilman Ighodaro recognizes the outstanding contributions made by this historical institution and congratulates the administration, faculty and student body on the occasion of their Annual Alumni Weekend and pep rally, and WHEREAS, Florida Memorial University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the Council on Social Work Education, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby recognizes October 25 through 27, 2019, as Florida Memorial University Alumni Weekend and hereby waives the fees associated with the City of Miami Gardens Showmobile usage for the pep rally currently scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2019. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
