A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST
RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR THE
ACCEPTANCE OF THE FY2019 EDWARD BYRNE GRANT IN
THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY-SIX THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND
ONE DOLLARS ($56,401.00) TO FUND THE MIAMI GARDENS
POLICE DEPARTMENT FOCUS ON PUBLIC SAFETY FY
2019/2020 PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THIS
GRANT PROCESS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens Police Department has applied for and
has been awarded grant funding from the United States Department of Justice FY2019
Edward Byrne Grant, in the amount of $56,401.00.
WHEREAS, the funding from this grant will be used to fund the Miami Gardens
Police Department Foucus on Public Safety FY 19/20 Poject, and
WHEREAS, the primary goal of this project is enhancing public safety and crime
reduction initiatives durning the holiday shopping period, and
WHEREAS, the initiatives will be achieved through surveillance and concentrated
enforcement, and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends that the City Council for the City of Miami
Gardens authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with the United States
Department of Justice Edward Byrne Grant in the amount of $56,401.00 and authorizing
the City Manager to execute renewal agreements and all related documents required,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
authorizes City Manager to execute a contract with the United States Department of
Justice for the Edward Byrne Grant in the amount of $56,401.00 and authorizing the
City Manager to execute renewal agreements and all related documents required.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 13, 2019.
