A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING COUNCILWOMAN LILLIE Q.
ODOM'S ANNUAL WORLD AIDS AWARENESS DAY;
AUTHORIZING A SPONSORSHIP OF ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,000.00) FROM THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL
EVENTS ACCOUNT FOR THE EVENT ON DECEMBER 5, 2019;
PRO TUNC; FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS,-
PROVIDING
EPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, World AIDS Day, is designated on December 1st since 1988, and
WHEREAS, It is important as it reminds the public and Government that HIV has
not gone away — there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight
prejudice and improve education, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom and community partners continue to
bring attention to the global epidemic by teaching the community about its fear,
discrimination, care and treatment to remove the stigma, and
WHEREAS, The event was held at the Betty T. Recreational Center at 3000 NW
199th Street, Miami Gardens, FI 33056 on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 10:00
a.m.to 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, NUNC PRO TUNC, Councilwoman Odom is seeking sponsorship of
one thousand dollars ($1000.00) for the event expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made
a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby supports the World AIDS Awareness Day that will occur on December 5, 2019.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 11, 2019.
