A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG-CV) FUNDS UP TO
THREE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($350,000)
FOR A MEAL SERVICE PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)
(Public Law 116-136) makes available $5 billion in supplemental Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) funding for grants to prevent, prepare for, and
respond to Coronavirus, and
WHEREAS, the CARES Act provides CDBG grantees with flexibilities that make
it easier to use CDBG-CV grants for Coronavirus response and authorizes HUD to grant
waivers and determine any alternative requirements, and
WHEREAS, HUD has announced the allocations of the first $2 billion in CARES
Act funding for CDBG grantees, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has received an allocation of
$645,962.00, and
WHEREAS, any spending must be in accordance with an approved Action Plan
and must be an eligible CDBG activity, and
WHEREAS, the proposed program is an eligible CDBG public service activity,
and
WHEREAS, emergency public service activities may be funded during the
declared presidential emergency, and
WHEREAS, the Emergency Meal Service Program will provide 1000 meals per
day to eligible Miami Gardens residents through the end of the declared emergency or
for a period of up to 30 days,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) funds up to three
hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) for a Meal Service Program.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON APRIL 16, 2020.
