A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING A BID AWARD TO
THUNDER DEMOLITION, INC FOR BENNETT M. LIFTER
PARK SELECT SITE DEMOLITION PURSUANT TO REQUEST
FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) NO. 19-20-004, DEMOLITION
SERVICES CITYWIDE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS, AS NEEDED, FOR THIS
PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Bennett M. Lifter Park located at 20701 NW 22nd Avenue in the City
of Miami Gardens ("City") requires demolition services that include all materials, labor,
supervision, transportation, licenses, and equipment required to demolish the existing
recreation building and related hardscape, deteriorated tennis courts and the previously
existing playground area, and
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
passed Resolution No. 2020-036-3435, approving a list of prequalified contractors in
response to RFQ No. 19-20-004 for Demolition Services Citywide, and
WHEREAS, on April 20, 2020, a request for quotation was issued to three (3) of
the prequalified contractors, and
WHEREAS, on May 11, 2020, three (3) quotes were received from Chin Diesel,
Inc., Paragon Construction UNLTD, Inc and Thunder Demolition, Inc., and
WHEREAS, City Staff evaluated the quotes for compliance with specifications
and the proposers' ability to perform the work and deemed Thunder Demolition, Inc. the
lowest responsive, responsible bidder with a bid in an amount not to exceed Fifty Eight
Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($58,300.00), and
WHEREAS, City Staff recommends that the City Council approve an award of bid
to Thunder Demolition, Inc. for Demolition Services at Bennett M. Lifter Park pursuant to
RFQ 19-20-004 and authorize the City Manager to issue purchase orders, as needed, in
an amount not to exceed Fifty Eight Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($58,300.00),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby[LW1] approves a bid award to Thunder Demolition, Inc for Bennett M. Lifter Park
select site demolition pursuant to RFQ NO. 19-20-004, Demolition Services Citywide
and authorizes the City Manager to issue purchase orders, as needed, for this purpose.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS SPECIAL VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON JUNE 10, 2020.
