A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THE SUM OF TWO
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FROM COUNCILMAN
DAVID WILLIAMS JR ACCOUNTS. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($1 ,000.00) FROM PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND ($1 ,000.00) ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE SPECIAL EVENTS
ACCOUNT TO SUPPORT THE FOURTH ANNUAL HONORING
WOMEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT EVENT; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS, PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement agencies within the tri-county area provide
services to over 6 million people that reside in South Florida, and
WHEREAS, the services provided by these Law Enforcement Agencies are
invaluable to the community and residents alike, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens brings honor and recognition to the
women of South Florida who serve their communities as Law Enforcement Officers, by
hosting the fourthAnnual Women in Law Enforcement Event, and
WHEREAS, each of the Law Enforcement Agencies within the respective
counties will be invited to take part in the Fourth Annual Honoring Women in Law
Enforcement Event, and
WHEREAS, each Law Enforcement agency is encouraged to nominate one
woman to receive a special award for her dedication to the profession and community,
and
WHEREAS, funding for the Fourth Annual Honoring Women in Law Enforcement
Event will be partially supported by the Public Affairs and Special Events Account for
Seat 5 in addition to sponsorships and donations, and
WHEREAS, Councilman David Williams Jr is requesting Two Thousand Dollars;
($1,000) from the Public Affairs Account and ($1 ,000.00) the Special Events Account for
Seat 5, and
WHEREAS, Councilman David Williams Jr recommends that the City Council
approves this resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of One Thousand Dollars (1,000.00) from David
Councilman Williams, Jr Public Affairs Account and ($1 ,000.00) from Councilman David
Williams, Jr Special Events Account, to support the Fourth Annual Honoring Women in
Law Enforcement event.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS SPECIAL VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON JUNE 3, 2020.
