HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-083-3481 Streetlight Study RESOLUTION NO. 2020-083-3481 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE FROM THE CITIZENS INDEPENDENT TRANSPORTATION TRUST ("CITT") FUND SETTLEMENT BALANCE TO CALTRAN ENGINEERING GROUP FOR A STREETLIGHT STUDY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED FORTY THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED NINETY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND SIXTY-NINE CENTS ($240,497.69); PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in the last two years, the City of Miami Gardens ("City") has acquired control over many Streetlight Special Taxing Districts, and WHEREAS, Florida Power & Light ("FPL") has retro-fitted all existing lighting with LED fixtures and lamps, and WHEREAS, the City received complaints from property owners that streets within the Safe Routes to School ("SRTS") have inefficient lighting, and WHEREAS, the City desires to hire a consultant to collect photometric measurements of street lighting conditions to identify the maximum permitted lighting intensity and correct lighting efficiencies along roadways and at intersections without sacrificing the quality of life of property owners, and WHEREAS, the services of Engineering Consultant, Caltran Engineering, have been solicited under Continuing Architectural and Engineering Services Request for Qualifications #18-19-008, and WHEREAS, City Staff recommends that the City Council authorize an expenditure from the CITT Fund Settlement Balance for a Streetlight Study, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes an expenditure from the CITT Fund Settlement Balance to Caltran Engineering Group for a Streetlight Study, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Forty Thousand Four Hundred Ninety-Seven Dollars and Sixty-Nine Cents ($240,497.69). Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
