A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEON PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL
EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00), TO PROVIDE MEALS FOR
SENIORS AND PURCHASE COVID-19 MEDICAL SUPPLIES
(MASKS AND GLOVES), NUNC PRO TUNC, TO MAY 6, 2020;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, as an elected official, one of the main responsibilities of council is to
prioritize the health and welfare of its residents, and
WHEREAS, with the declaration of a public health emergency (COVID-19),
individuals, families and communities would face many hardships, and
WHEREAS, to ensure some of the needs created by the national pandemic are
met, communities must rely on government resources, and
WHEREAS, in response to the coronavirus crisis, Councilman Leon committed to
ensuring our seniors were provided a hot meal during this national pandemic, and
WHEREAS, once a week for four weeks, beginning March 30, 2020, Councilman
Leon fed more than 100 residents in our senior communities, and
WHEREAS, in order to complete this task, he also purchased medical supplies to
adhere to the recommendations of public health authorities to ensure the safety of staff
and residents, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Leon is requesting funding from the Public Affairs
Special Events Account in the amount of $5,000.00 be approved nunc pro tunc, for
providing meals to Seniors and the purchase of medical supplies during the national
pandemic, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon recommends that the City Council
approves this resolution, nunc pro tunc,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from the Public Affairs Special Events Account for Five
Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), for providing meals to Seniors and the purchase of
medical supplies, nunc pro tunc, to May 6, 2020.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS VIRTUAL SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2020.
